DRIVING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

The Test of Driving Ability

This is a practical driving test which lasts about an hour.

The test is in two parts. The first part is the eyesight test, where you will be required to read a car registration plate from a distance of 90 feet/27.4 metres. The second part is the practical driving test.

It is a very advanced test and candidates are expected to drive in a brisk and business like way. You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of good driving and road safety, and you will be required to carry out all of the set manoeuvres.

Only six minor driving errors are allowed and the Examiner will be more critical of what constitutes a driving error than he or she would be on a learners test. No serious or dangerous faults are allowed.

Only three attempts are allowed for this part of the qualifying examination. If you fail this test, you will not be able to take it again until two years from the passing of the part one exam.
